SHARE research placements

The Cambridge ESRC DTP offers Research Experience Placements for talented undergraduate students from underrepresented or disadvantaged backgrounds, who are thinking about doing a postgraduate course.

As part of the University’s SHARE programme, the DTP has been awarded ESRC funding to support current undergraduate students to undertake a summer research experience placement at Cambridge.

The scheme offers paid summer placements for undergraduate students, during which they will carry out research projects within the broad scope of the social sciences at the Cambridge ESRC DTP.

Research Experience Placements are designed to:

  • Give students the opportunity to engage with inspiring social science research staff and students at the Cambridge DTP
  • Improve and develop research and transferable skills
  • Enhance students’ ability to make a competitive application for postgraduate courses and funding
  • Inform students about opportunities for postgraduate study in the social sciences at Cambridge
  • Placements run for six weeks in the summer if taken up on a full-time basis. Part-time opportunities are also available.
