ESRC Doctoral Training Partnership for Social Sciences


The Regional Studies Association welcomes submissions of abstracts to their annual Student and Early Career conference, to be held in Newcastle in October 2016. This conference will give PhD students and early career researchers the opportunity to network, collaborate and socialise with others working in regional studies and related fields.

All submissions with a regional focus are welcomed and especially those in the following areas:

  • Urban and regional policy
  • New challenges in urban planning
  • New economic geography
  • Big data and regions
  • Climate change and sustainability
  • Politics and territory
  • Mega-regions and City regions
  • Regional mapping and visualisation
  • Clusters and smart specialisation
  • Employment, Welfare and Labour Markets
  • Migration Debates in the European Union and beyond
  • Social and community cohesion
  • Innovation, Knowledge and Local Economic Development
  • Entrepreneurship, manufacturing and new business models
