ESRC DTP Annual Lecture 2018

Cambridge ESRC DTP Annual Lecture 2018

"Changing Behaviour: A case for closer links between Behavioural, Social and Political Sciences to tackle Obesity and Climate Change"

Professor Theresa Marteau, Director of the Behaviour and Health Research Unit, University of Cambridge, and Director of Studies in Psychological and  Behavioural Sciences at Christ’s College, Cambridge.

We were delighted that Professor Theresa Marteau was able to deliver this year’s Annual Lecture on 14 June 2018. The lecture was very well received and prompted much discussion about the need to make connections between Behavioural and Social and Political Sciences.  You can view Professor Marteau's slides from the lecture here.

ESRC DTP Student Poster Winner 2018

ESRC DTP students were invited to submit a poster for display at the drinks reception being held before the start of the lecture.  The ESRC DTP Director and Deputy Director judged the posters displayed and were very impressed with their  high quality and diverse content.  Julia Hayes (Faculty of Education) was selected as overall winner and was commended for her fantastic artwork and clear narrative which led the reader through the poster so well.

Julia is an Educational psychologist and international consultant on disability who regularly uses visual illustration to consult with children and explain concepts.  Funded by the ESRC, she paused her career to explore an innovative Colombian model of education, and the ways in which it might offer local solutions to addressing the needs of children with disabilities who live in rural areas. Hoping to begin fieldwork in January 2019, Julia is hoping it goes as smoothly as the poster suggests, but thinks it is likely that the final picture may be very different!

You can view Julia's poster in full here.
