Isabel Airas

PhD in Geography in the Department of Geography.

Supervised by: Professor Ash Amin

Isabel's research focuses on the role of affects and emotions in populist politics. She will be monitoring the Sweden Democrats' campaign in the run-up to the 2018 Parliamentary Elections; both their online social-media campaign and their campaign on the ground. She is also interested in the specific explanations behind support of this party, and will therefore be working closely with supporters of the Sweden Democrats. The working title of her PhD thesis is ‘The Affective Politics of Sverigedemokraterna: Structures of Feeling, Political Resonance Machines, Hotspots, and Echo Chambers’.
